Project- The Positive and negative affects of social networking

For my prospective project, i plan to gather information on different social networking sites and the positive and negative affects that come from the usage of these forms of media. Sites such as hi5, facebook, twitter, and black planet all have affects on pop culture, society, the spread of info, and many other aspects. I want to highlight the positive affects and compare them to the negative and also see how and what these networks will do for society in the future.

    There seems to be so much negative impact on these sites recently with all the privacy issues. But there are definitely a good side to these sites!

    This is an interesting topic and in my opinion, there's always more negative aspects than positive aspects about social networking sites.

    I would definitely love to read more about your research in the future! Although I LOVE all these social networking sites, I must feel inclined to say that the negatives outweigh the positives. In general I feel like social networking sites has actually caused us to become impersonal with our friendships. People RARELY pick up a telephone to call someone just to catch up.

    There will be a lot more negative effects when it comes down to children and social networking sites. I agree with dianasayss that social networking sites have caused "us to become impersonal with our friendships." People rather text than talk to you in person. People are forgetting how to SPEAK to each other normally.

    You have picked very interesting topic. I believe social networking sites such as Facebook and tweeter have changes the way we communicate as well as the way we get information. I also believe that the negative part of social networking outweigh the positive part. For example, how people become addicted to social networking sites.
